What did we talk about?
The usual welcomes and introductions were done.
We then talked about the importance of experiential learning and “this is me documents”. – Helen shared her experiences using her own “This is Me” as an example for work and there were a number of stories told.
Chris talked of a young man challenged with autism who when in the car on the A12 felt he had to read all the numberplates coming towards him and how Chris suggested making it only red cars to make it more manageable.
DOLs were discussed – this might be a good future topic and Tay (characteristically) came up with the brilliant idea of a “Reduction of Anxiety Careplan” for all service users (linking in with the this is me.
A case was discussed where the central person has a habit of eating cigarette ends.
Two books were also mentioned as looking to be worth a read:

Racism and service users was discussed along with the need for clarity in communications and the difficulties some people have wit hregional/national accents and dialects along with discussions about deaf service users and deaf carers.

Next meeting: 2nd Dec
We then plan on missing the January meeting (it being the bank holiday and us too full of Christmas Pudding to move) <xmaspud> =>>>
